Arsenal preparing fresh swoop for Brazilian star

Arsenal could make a fresh attempt to sign Palmeiras midfielder Danilo when the transfer window reopens in January.

The Gunners were hot on the trail of the Brazilian star last summer, but Palmeiras did not want to sell him midway through their season.

The north London giants are planning to try again at the turn of the year and it is said that they are optimistic of getting their man this time around.

The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the best holding midfielders in Brazilian football and has been heavily touted for a big move to Europe.

Shakhtar Donetsk are obviously among the interested clubs in him, but the Gunners may have a clear advantage in landing the €20 million star.

Gunners technical director Edu Gaspar has been in regular contact with the player's agency such that the club are ahead of the queue for the player.

Danilo should provide much-needed quality in the holding midfield role for Arsenal. Thomas Partey's fitness can't be trusted for an entire season.
