Cody Gakpo ready to consider Manchester United transfer

PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo has opened the door to join Manchester United during the winter transfer window.

The Dutch star was keen on joining the Red Devils last summer but he was denied the opportunity before the transfer deadline.

The club were in regular contact with his agent, but the hierarchy eventually made the decision to sign Antony from Ajax for €100m.

Speaking to NRC, Gakpo has now revealed that he wanted to join the Red Devils over the summer, but a transfer did not materialise.

He said: "I thought about Manchester United, but when that didn’t happen, I couldn’t remember. And I started to doubt. Leeds United did come. Should I go there?"

The 23-year-old added that he has not heard anything from United over recent months but would consider a move to them in January.

He added: "Now I wait (for) everything. I haven’t heard from Manchester United yet. If they come, I’ll think about it. I also seek the help of God in these decisions."

Gakpo has been relishing to watch for club and country. He has 30 goal contributions in just 24 games for PSV in the current season.

He has also excelled for the national team at the World Cup finals. Gakpo has netted three goals for the Netherlands, who are into the last eight.
