Man Utd to open Dalot contract talks

Manchester United are planning to discuss a new contract with defender Diogo Dalot amid speculation linking him with Barcelona.

Dalot has been a revelation for the Red Devils this campaign. The 23-year-old has started in 20 of their 21 games across all competitions.

He has produced several stand-out displays during this period and Sport claim that United are now ready to negotiate a new long-term deal.

Barcelona are currently keeping tabs on Dalot's situation, but United remain confident that the Portuguese will continue with them for a long time.

Dalot's current deal concludes at the end of this season, but the hierarchy have the option of triggering a 12-month extension clause.

Hence, the club have time on their hands to prolong his stay and hopefully, they will meet the wage requirements of the Portuguese.

Dalot is currently earning around £25,000-a-week and he will surely be expecting in the region of £100,000-a-week to extend.

Barcelona are currently watching the player's situation closely. They could make an approach if Dalot declines a contract renewal.
