Manchester United quoted fee to sign Goncalo Ramos
Manchester United have been told to pay €120m to sign Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos during the January transfer window.
The Portuguese has had a superb season with the Primeira Liga giants, registering 14 goals and six assists from 20 appearances.
Ramos was also brilliant for his country at the World Cup. He netted a stellar hat-trick during the 6-1 rout of Switzerland in the round of 16.
Speaking to Jornal de Noticias, Benfica president Rui Costa has now made it clear that no players will be sold during the January transfer window.
He added that any interested clubs must trigger the release clause of their players. Hence, United have to pay €120m to land Ramos next month.
It is highly unlikely that United will make such a huge bid in January, particularly with the Glazers in the process of selling the club.
They could spend a reasonable sum on a new striker this winter but any major spending could be delayed until the end of the campaign.
