Man Utd and Chelsea ready to battle for Ligue 1 star
Manchester United and Chelsea could compete to sign Lille striker Jonathan David next month, according to The Sun.
The Canadian has been regularly linked with a Premier League move and he could now be the subject of transfer bids.
United have been following him for some time and The Sun report that they are prepared to make a January approach.
However, the Red Devils won't be alone in the player's pursuit, considering Chelsea are also weighing up an offer.
The London giants recently signed David Fofana from Molde, but the striker is seen as one for the future than present.
Hence, they are also keen on landing David, who could be available for £40 million in the January transfer window.
The 22-year-old has had a top season with Lille, registering nine goals and three assists from 15 appearances so far.
His strong work rate, hold-up play and pace on the counter-attack could see him quickly adapt to Premier League football.
