Manchester United are moving closer to signing Burnley striker Wout Weghorst on a temporary deal, according to Foot Mercato.

The Dutchman is currently on a season-long loan at Turkish giants Besiktas. The club have the option to buy him for 10 million euros this summer.

As a result, they need to be compensated for his release and it is reported that Burnley have started negotiations with the Istanbul outfit over the same.

The Championship side are likely to receive around 6 millions euros from United for Weghorst and Besiktas could get 50 per cent of the fee.

The Red Devils are looking for a short-term striking solution and Weghorst has been identified as the perfect fit by manager Erik ten Hag.

The Dutch tactician adores the commitment of his compatriot and also believes his strong physical attributes would suit Premier League football.

Weghorst struggled with just two goals from 20 top-flight outings for Burnley, but he will be aiming to redeem himself if he joins United.
