Barcelona's top target open to Arsenal transfer

Barcelona's top midfield target Martin Zubimendi would like to join Arsenal during the summer transfer window.

The Spanish star has been in sublime form for Sociedad this campaign and the club are on course to finish in the top four of La Liga.

As a result, the Gunners are interested in him but they may have to wait until the end of the season to prise him away from Sociedad.

Zubimendi can be signed by triggering his €60m buy-out clause, but he appears determined to stay with Sociedad this term.

Barcelona consider him as a successor to Sergio Busquets, but Mundo Deportivo claim he prefers a move to the Premier League.

This should hand a big advantage for the Gunners in the player's pursuit. Zubimendi would be a fantastic addition to their ranks next term.

He is terrific with his defensive organisation and also possesses a superb work rate. He would be an ideal fit for manager Mikel Arteta.
