Gordon signs for Magpies

Newcastle have completed a £45 million deal for Everton winger Anthony Gordon, after the England under-21 international handed in a transfer request at Goodison Park. The St James' Park outfit have been flying high in the Premier League this campaign, and Gordon will become the player will be the club's second highest transfer fee in their history.

After Everton rejected £40 million last week, Gordon finally would get his wish after the Magpies upped their original offer. In a press conference, Gordon told the gathered media: "Since I heard of the interest, I was always convinced Newcastle were for me, I think the fan base and the city really suits me as a person, the way the team are playing under the gaffer at the minute really suits me, and the club just look like they're heading in the right direction.

"I feel like it's a really big step. People haven't seen what I'm capable of yet. I think under the gaffer, and the way the club's going, I can really excel here."

Eddie Howe has made no secret of his plans to add more quality to his squad before the end of the transfer window. Howe told reporters: "I'm delighted to sign Anthony -- he's a top, top talent."
