Arsenal make shock move for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho

Arsenal have made a surprise approach to sign Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, according to David Ornstein.

The Gunners are determined to strengthen their midfield before the transfer deadline and Jorginho has now emerged as an option.

The Italy international has entered the last six months of his deal and the Gunners are aiming to sign him for a knockdown fee.

Jorginho has been a key player for the Blues over the past four years, but they are open to cashing in with his deal expiring very soon.

He will be a free-agent in the summer and the west Londoners seem prepared to sell him for a small fee than losing him for nothing.

It remains to be seen whether the Gunners' pursuit of Jorginho has any effect on their ongoing interest in signing Brighton star Moises Caicedo.

Brighton have been adamant that he won't be sold before the transfer deadline. Jorginho could well be the back-up choice for the club.
