Liverpool join Chelsea in race to sign Croatian star

Liverpool have reportedly joined Chelsea in the race to sign RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol this summer.

The Blues were determined to land the Croatian centre-back last summer but Leipzig were not prepared to do business.

Gvardiol ended up signing a new deal but Kicker claim that he could still leave the Bundesliga outfit before next season.

Chelsea are ready to make a fresh approach for the World Cup semi-finalist but they are set to face competition from Liverpool.

Both clubs are determined to sign the 21-year-old, who is regarded as one of the best young central defenders in the world.

Gvardiol has also been linked with Real Madrid, but he has made it clear that he dreams of playing in the Premier League.

Manchester United hav also been credited with an interest in the £89 million-rated star but they may have to offload players first.

The Red Devils are walking a tight rope with Financial Fair Play and there could be several departures as part of the summer rebuild.
