Despite VfL Wolfsburg announcing that a deal has been struck with Italian defender Christian Zaccardo, a Palermo chief has revealed that no deal has yet been agreed.

"Zaccardo has signed a three year contract," Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath revealed. "He is a player of great substance and quality. Cristian is powerful, good in the air and strong in the tackle.

"I am convinced that he will be a regular and that playing in the Bundesliga will help him become a fixture in the Italy side."

Only hours later, Palermo denied that a deal was in place with the German club, as Rino Foschi a club chief said: "I don't understand how the German club can have said it is official.

"Obviously, they have reached an agreement with the player but still not with us. Even on the figures there is nothing certain."
