Manchester United striker Wout Weghorst has opened the possibility of re-signing for Besiktas this summer.

The Burnley star joined the Red Devils on loan in January after his temporary deal with Besiktas was terminated.

He has since struggled to impress with just five goal contributions in 23 games. United are unlikely to land him permanently.

According to Spor Arena, Weghorst would now be open to rejoining Besiktas on a permanent transfer this summer.

The Istanbul outfit are also interested in a reunion, though the final decision will depend on their head coach.

Weghorst was hugely impressive during his time in Turkey. He contributed nine goals and four assists.

The Dutchman could not resist the prospect of joining United but he has failed to live up to the hype.

He was fancied to make a big impact with his presence but he has barely won any aerial duels at United.

Erik ten Hag has regularly praised him this year but United are unlikely to pursue a permanent transfer.
