Manchester United have confirmed that Diogo Dalot has penned a new long-term contract with them.

The 24-year-old has been a vital figure under manager Erik ten Hag and he has made 42 appearances in all competitions.

Out of those, the majority have come from the starting line-up and the Portuguese has now committed his future.

The former Porto graduate has signed a new five-year contract with United. The deal could be extended by 12 months.

He told Manutd.com "Playing for Manchester United is one of the highest honours that you can have in football."

"I’ve grown so much and my passion for this incredible club has only increased since the day that I joined."

Dalot's extension could end the speculation over United signing a new right-back in the summer transfer window.

Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen has been constantly linked but he seems unlikely to move to Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag has already hinted that he would like to keep Aaron Wan-Bissaka amid his excellent run of form.
