Man City enter talks to sign Chelsea midfielder

Manchester City have opened talks with Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Croatian has been a key player for the west London giants but he is widely expected to leave in the next transfer window.

Kovacic will enter the final year of his contract in July and talks have already broken down over a possible renewal at the club.

It is now reported by Romano that the Cityzens have held positive talks with the player's camp over a summer transfer.

Furthermore, the Blues are also open to parting ways with the former Real Madrid star as part of their planned midfield overhaul.

The Blues are preparing to part ways with several key midfielders including Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and N'Golo Kante.

Mount and Loftus-Cheek could be on their way to Manchester United and AC Milan while Kante could be released by the Blues.

The Frenchman has suffered multiple muscular injuries in the last year and the club are reluctant to extend his deal expiring on June 30.
