Arsenal to sign the new Bruno Fernandes?

Arsenal are reportedly interested in landing the signature of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Pedro Goncalves this summer.

The 24-year-old has one of the best performers in the Portuguese top-flight and he is now prepared to pursue a bigger challenge.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United are interested in signing him, but O Jogo claim that the Gunners have joined the transfer pursuit.

Goncalves had a superb 2022/23 season. He scored 21 goals and provided a further 15 assists for Sporting in all competitions.

He has been likened to former teammate and Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes for his playing style but won't come on the cheap.

He is currently protected by a release clause worth €80m and Sporting may not sell him for less in the upcoming transfer window.

Goncalves played a starring role for Sporting during their round of 16 tie against Arsenal in the Europa League earlier this year.

He provided an assist in the first leg before scoring a wondergoal from the halfway line in the second leg. Sporting eventually won via penalties.
