Man City planning shock swoop for former Man Utd target
Manchester City are planning a surprise swoop for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong this summer.
Manchester United were very keen on bringing the Dutchman to Old Trafford last summer, but a move never materialised.
While a transfer fee worth £67m was agreed with Barcelona, De Jong had no desire to leave Camp Nou for the Red Devils.
It is now reported by The Sun that the Cityzens are considering an approach to land the Netherlands international.
Pep Guardiola's side recently ended their interest in signing West Ham's Declan Rice after Arsenal's record £105m bid.
They are now mulling over a move for De Jong, but he won't come on the cheap with Barcelona set to demand more.
The Catalans value him in the region of £90m this summer, but it is unclear whether De Jong will consider a transfer.
De Jong was adamant that he did not want to leave Barcelona at any cost during last summer's transfer window.
