Man City battling Chelsea to sign French winger

Manchester City are prepared to go head-to-head with Chelsea in the race to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, as per Fabrizio Romano.

The 21-year-old had a good 2022/23 season with the Eagles. He registered two goals and 11 assists from 40 appearances in all competitions.

The France Under-21 international has now opened the door for a new challenge. City and Chelsea are currently interested in signing him.

Both clubs are aware of the £35 million release clause in his existing contract, but they want to analyse his current injury situation first.

The right winger suffered a hamstring tear during the Under-21 Euros recently. The duo want more clarity over the extent of the damage.

City see him as a potential replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who has signed for Al Ahli. Chelsea want him as competition to Noni Madueke.

Angelo Gabriel has impressed in pre-season after his summer move, but the Blues are planning to loan him out for the upcoming campaign.
