Man Utd explain Varane and Garnacho's absence vs Dortmund
Manchester United have revealed that Raphael Varane and Alejandro Garnacho missed the Borussia Dortmund friendly as a precaution.
The Red Devils ended their pre-season tour of the United States with a 3-2 defeat. Donyell Malan was the star of the game with two goals.
In an update on United's official website, it was revealed that Varane and Garnacho did not make the game for precautionary reasons.
Meanwhile, Amad Diallo was also missing from the squad, having picked up a knee injury during the friendly against Arsenal this month.
The Ivorian was initially deemed to have twisted his ankle, but it appears the setback is more concerning with further examination required.
United will return to Manchester after their US tour. They are scheduled to host RC Lens in their only friendly at Old Trafford on August 5.
24 hours later, the club will be in action against Athletic Bilbao in Dublin. This will be their final game before the new league campaign.
