Endo joins Liverpool

Liverpool will today complete a deal to sign 30-year-old defensive midfielder Wataru Endo, after the departure of some of the Anfield club's top midfielders so far this summer. Endo, who arrives at Liverpool from VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, played 99 times in the German top flight and arrives at the club to finalize brand new look midfield.

The departure of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson left gaps in the club's midfield ranks, and Jurgen Klopp has moved quickly to sign Endo for £15.4 million from VfB Stuttgart.

Endo is very highly rated in Germany, and this move comes as somewhat of a surprise, as the Japanese international had been expected to extend his contract at the club.

Endo had spells in his home country before moving to Belgium with Sint-Truiden. It wasn't until 2019 that he really forced his way into the limelight in Europe though, and a move to VfB followed.

The player is a very versatile asset for Jurgen Klopp's squad, as he is able to play in defence or in midfield, but his preferred position is as an anchorman at the base of the midfield.
