Konstantinos Mavropanos to sign for West Ham
West Ham will poach former Arsenal and Greece international centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos in a deal worth around 23 million euros. Mavropanos has caught the eye since leaving the Emirates for VfB Stuttgart, and the defender has been labelled as one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga in recent seasons.
The deal is a major coup for the Hammers, who saw a deal for Harry Maguire fall through last week, after they were unable to agree a fee with Manchester United for the England international defender.
The club swiftly turned their attentions to Mavropanos, and the 25-year-old will sign a long term deal at the London Stadium. Since leaving Arsenal in 2022, the versatile defender has appeared 28 times in the Bundesliga.
This could be one of the first acquisitions since the arrival of the Hammers' new technical director Tim Steidten, who had spells at Bayer Leverkusen and Werder Bremen, and has a deep knowledge of the Bundesliga and the German domestic leagues.
Maguire's future remains up in the air at Old Trafford, but the Irons could make one last approach before the end of the transfer window.
