Chelsea have pulled off a major coup in signing Djordje Petrovic from New England Revolution, as the goalkeeper joins the Blues to become understudy to Robert Sanchez at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea will pay around £14 million to sign the Serbian shotstopper.

The goalkeeper, who has the highest return of saves and save percentage in 2023 in MLS, will fly to England for a medical tomorrow and will complete a move on Friday. The 23-year-old has caught the eye in recent months and the Blues have moved for the Serb to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga, who joined Real Madrid on loan.

Petrovic has been first choice for the Revolution since current Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner left for Arsenal last summer, and has impressed since taking the number 1 jersey.

The keeper has two caps for Serbia, having made his debut in January 2021, and has just two years remaining on his deal with the MLS side. The youngster joined New England Revolution from Cukaricki in his homeland in 2022 for a fee of around 1 million euros.
