England star was prepared to join Man Utd next summer
Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane was prepared to join Manchester United on a free transfer next summer, according to The Athletic.
The England international was regularly linked with United in the early part of the summer, but Spurs were reluctant to do business with them.
As a result, the Red Devils decided to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta instead while Kane made the surprise switch to Bayern.
It is now revealed that Kane was prepared to run down the final year of his Tottenham contract to join United on a Bosman deal.
However, he did not receive assurances from the Red Devils and this paved the way for his move to Munich with Thomas Tuchel's side.
Kane has had a fine start to his Bayern career. The 30-year-old has scored four goals and provided one assist from five appearances.
On the other hand, Rasmus Hojlund has been goalless in his first two games for United. He is adapting to the league after a back issue.
