Massive injury blow for Man Utd as defender requires surgery
Manchester United have been handed a massive injury blow with Lisandro Martinez requiring another foot surgery.
The Argentine suffered a metatarsal fracture in a European game against Sevilla in April and he underwent an operation as a result.
He made his comeback in time for the new campaign, but picked up a recurrence of the same problem in the league loss at Arsenal.
He managed to play in the next two games with painkillers, but reports now claim that he needs a surgery as the foot fracture has not healed.
Daily Mail claim that the World Cup winner will undergo the operation on Monday and he could miss upto three months of first-team football.
The news is a huge blow for the Red Devils, considering Raphael Varane and Martinez have been brilliant at the heart of the defence.
Varane has been injury prone for most of his career. If he is sidelined, United need to rely on Harry Maguire or Jonny Evans to partner Victor Lindelof.
