Harry Maguire breaks silence on West Ham link
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has clarified that West Ham United did not reach an agreement with the Red Devils to sign him.
The centre-back was touted to join the Hammers during the back end of the summer transfer window, but a deal did not materialise in the end.
Multiple sources have claimed that the move failed due to Maguire wanting a huge pay-off from United, but the defender has a different story.
When asked about the transfer link, he said: It wasn't agreed between both clubs so the actual opportunity wasn't there because we didn't get far enough down the line with it."
Maguire recently started the 2-1 win over Brentford in the Premier League. He provided the vital assist for Scott McTominay's dramatic winner.
The England international could get an extended run in the starting line-up, suppose Raphael Varane does not recover from his muscle injury.
United have had a poor start to the league campaign and they are currently 10th in the table with only 12 points from the opening eight games.
