Man Utd have keen interest in signing Benfica wonderkid

Manchester United have a keen interest in signing Benfica wonderkid Joao Neves, according to A Bola in Portugal.

The Red Devils bolstered their defensive midfield department last summer with the loan signing of Sofyan Amrabat.

The Moroccan was desperate to join United throughout the window and he eventually signed on loan with a buy option.

United are likely to land him on a permanent basis next summer, but they could still invest on another young midfielder.

Neves is currently at the top of their wishlist and it remains to be seen whether they can convince Benfica into a sale.

The 19-year-old has made huge strides in the space of 12 months and he is currently on the radar of several elite teams.

United are eager to get ahead in the queue for the youngster, but Benfica appear keen on keeping him until June 2025.

If the Red Devils want to sign him in advance, they would have to trigger the staggering €120m release clause in his contract.
