Chelsea planning swoop for Bundesliga sensation

Chelsea have their sights on signing Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz, according to SportBild.

The west London giants spent close to £400 million on new signings over the summer but they have continued to struggle in the league.

Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that the club could look for attacking reinforcements and Wirtz could be a genuine choice.

Wirtz has been in fantastic form in the current campaign and he has already registered 13 goal contributions for Leverkusen in all competitions.

He has been touted to secure a big-money transfer next year but Leverkusen are likely to hold onto him until the end of the season at least.

Manchester City have also been credited with an interest in the youngster, but they are unlikely to enter into a bidding battle for his services.

Leverkusen sold Kai Havertz to Chelsea for around €80 million few years ago and Wirtz could cost much more due to his talent and potential.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping tabs on his situation.
