Iniesta on Ronaldinho

FC Barcelona central midfielder Andreas Inieta has urged the Bluagrana supporters to remember the good old days of Ronaldinho and has spoken of his admiration for the 28-year old Brazilian and his contribution to the club.

Ronaldinho is said to have fallen out with both the club’s boardroom and the supporters and is almost certain to depart from the Camp Nou this summer. It is generally thought that Italian giants AC Milan would be his next suitors but Chelsea too are toying with the idea of importing the Brazilian ace to Stamford Bridge.

Ronaldinho has been in a ridiculously woeful form this season and has even been dropped for matches by the outgoing coach Frank Rijkaard. Ronaldinho has also lost the support from the fans who are said to have grown weary of Ronaldinho’s persistent inability to pull himself together and reinvent himself.

The Camo Nou faithful are also distraught at the way Ronaldinho’s nightclub adventures appear to hit the headlines frequently. But Roanldinho’s team mate at Barcelona, Andreas Iniesta, has urged the Barca followers to remember Ronaldinho for the good things he did for the club before his dip in form.

The young Spanish international, a graduate of the Barcelona youth academy, said:

“Each person is entitled to their own memories, but the ones that remain for me are the good times that Ronaldinho brought to the club.

“We must forgot this season that is coming to a close and make sure that we remember him for the positive things he has done for the team.”

Ronaldinho was signed by Barcelona in the summer of 2003 from French side Paris Saint-Germain and Ronnie settled very quickly into life in Catalonia. He led Barca to a second place finish in the 2003-2004 season and for the next two successive seasons was the best player for Barcelona and the best in the world as the Blaugrana won the Spanish leagues in 2005 and 2006 and also the UEFA Champions League in 2006.
