Barcelona have reportedly joined the race to sign Chelsea target and Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.

The Mexico international played a huge role in Feyenoord's league success last term and he has continued to impress this campaign.

The 22-year-old has already scored 15 goals from 12 games and reports claim that he could be the subject of multiple bids next year.

Chelsea have been monitoring him for a while but they have now been joined by Barcelona, who are aiming for a young marksman.

Robert Lewandowski has been extraordinary for the club since arriving from Bayern last year but the hierarchy want a long-term successor.

Gimenez has emerged as a top striker target for manager Xavi, but the big question is whether they will be able to afford his signature.

Feyenoord have increased the striker's valuation to €80m on the back of his stellar displays and are prepared to play the waiting game.

Chelsea should be favourites to sign him with their financial firepower. Barcelona may struggle to compete due to FFP issues.
