Chelsea eyeing new deal for Gallagher

Chelsea are prepared to accelerate contract talks with midfielder Conor Gallagher amid his impressive performances this season.

The England international had a disappointing debut campaign with the club last term and he was inconsistent with his showing.

The club were open to offloading him earlier in the summer, but they did not receive a suitable transfer offer from his suitors.

This has proved a blessing in disguise, considering Gallagher is currently an undisputed starter under manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Blues graduate has been one of the bright sparks in the early part of the campaign and the club are now lining up a new deal.

Gallagher currently has 20 months remaining on his existing contract and the club are ready to reward him with a long-term renewal.

They are prepared to hand him a sizeable increase on his wages and it remains to be seen whether Gallagher will prolong his stay.

The Blues currently have Romeo Lavia and Christopher Nkunku injured. Their comebacks could have a direct impact on Gallagher.

The 23-year-old may demand regular playing time going forward before putting pen-to-paper on a new long-term deal with Chelsea.
