Man Utd to make surprise move for experienced striker?

Manchester United could make a surprise approach to sign Porto striker Mehdi Taremi when the transfer window reopens.

The Red Devils currently have Rasmus Hojlund as the main man up front, but he has yet to find consistency in all competitions.

The Dane has five goals in the Champions League but he has yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League campaign.

As a result, United want to bring quality competition to their ranks and are also looking to reduce the burden on Hojlund.

Instead of a big-money transfer, they prefer to land an experienced option and have identified Taremi as the prime transfer target.

The Iranian was linked with the Red Devils earlier in the summer, but they ended up investing big on the services of Hojlund.

Hojlund has the potential to become a world-class striker, but bringing in Taremi could help ease the pressure on the young Dane.

Taremi is likely to leave Porto in January with his contract expiring in the summer. He is currently valued at just €10 million.
