Fernandes wants Neves at Man Utd

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has told the club's hierarchy to secure a deal for Benfica wonderkid Joao Neves.

Neves is currently one of the best emerging midfielders and he has been tipped to pursue a bigger challenge next year.

United are one of those scouting him and speaking to Sport TV, Fernandes was full of praise for his young compatriot.

The Red Devils captain described him as a great player, who has top quality and would love to have him at United in future.

It is left to be seen whether the club will make an approach to sign him in either January or at the end of the campaign.

A winter deal seems unlikely due to the huge €100m release clause in his contract. United have FFP concerns to deal with.

Even if there is investment from the board, the club may have to wait until the summer to spend big on the young sensation.

Neves could be seen as a replacement for Casemiro in the defensive midfield role. The latter could leave for Saudi Arabia.
