Two Saudi clubs enter race to sign Arsenal midfielder

Thomas Partey news

Partey wanted by Saudi Arabian duo

Saudi clubs Al-Ettifaq and Al-Ittihad have entered the race to sign Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey in January.

The Ghanaian was a regular starter for the Gunners at the beginning of the season, but he picked up an unfortunate injury.

On his return, he was largely on the bench before suffering a thigh problem. He recently under a surgery for the same.

Partey is currently ruled out until the New Year, but reports claim that he could push for an exit in the next window.

Juventus are long-term admirers of the former Atletico Madrid man, but they are only interested in signing him on loan.

On the other hand, Al-Ettifaq and Al-Ittihad are prepared to negotiate permanent deals, allowing Arsenal to land a replacement.

The Gunners currently have Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi and Aston Villa's Douglas Luiz in their sights for the New Year.

Both players will be difficult to prise away. Sociedad are reluctant to accept anything less than Zubimendi's €60m release clause.

Villa are likely to hold out for a similar package to part ways with Luiz, who is currently an undisputed starter for them.
