Real Madrid to start in June

Real Madrid sporting director Pedja Mijatovic is set to assess the club’s 2007-2008 season in the first week of June and will submit his assessment to the club board then.

Latest reports from Spain indicate that although the season in Spain shall be wrapped up at the weekend, the former Real Madrid striker Mijatovic shall wait until June 2 to present is assessment of the season to the club’s directors and president Ramon Calderon.

In his assessment report, Pedja Mijatovic is anticipated to highlight which areas of the team need to be strengthened, thereby outlining the team’s main weaknesses. What he is also expected to do is name the players who he feels is required at the club and who will help the club win the UEFA Champions League net season,

Real Madrid won the Spanish league for the second year in a row this season but they didn’t play the fantasy football that president Calderon had promised. Mijatovic is expected to outline his plans for Real to play better and more attractive football.

At Real Madrid it is generally the sporting director who controls the fate of the caoach and controls who gets signed and when. So coach Bernd Schuster’s first year in charge of the Merengues would also be scrutinized by Mijatovic and a decision will be taken only after that on whether the German gets to stay at the Bernabeu next season or not.

Mijatovic is also said to persuade the club directors to break the bank and prize the Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo away from Manchester United. Real Madrid have been chasing the 23-year old since the summer of 2006 but have consistently failed to persuade Man United. Mijatovic is expected to outline the plans to land the player at the Bernabeu next season.
