Chelsea plot move for former Man Utd goalkeeper
Manchester United's former goalkeeper David De Gea has been linked with a free transfer move to Premier League rivals Chelsea, as the Spaniard looks set to stay in England play second fiddle to current first choice keeper Robert Sanchez. The experienced shot-stopper has had no shortage of options, including from Saudi Arabia, but wants to stay in England to continue his career.
The 33-year-old amassed 415 league appearances for United over 12 years and was released without a new deal by Erik Ten Hag. Still widely considered one of the best goalkeeper's in the world, De Gea has received unfair criticism over the years and could now transfer to Chelsea in a shock deal.
The Blues are ready to match the keeper's reported £180,000 per week salary and will even guarantee a two-year deal to persuade the former Spain international that Stamford Bridge is his best next destination.
De Gea has also been linked with a move to Spain, to Atletico Madrid, but has so far said that staying in the United Kingdom would be his only desired option.
