Arsenal need to pay £80m to sign top midfield target

Arsenal will have to pay around £80 million to prise away Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa during the winter transfer window.

The Gunners have been long-term admirers of the Brazil international. They initially tried to sign him in the summer of 2022.

Back then, they had a £25m bid rejected by the Villans on deadline day and Luiz went on to commit his future to his club.

The former Manchester City graduate has since gone from strength-to-strength. He is now one of the in-form midfielders.

Mikel Arteta's side remain interested in securing his services but Football Transfers claim that he won't come on the cheap.

The Gunners are prepared to spend around £60m for the player, but reports claim that Villa could hold out for a fee of £80m.

They are not actively looking to sell the midfielder at the moment, and a winter exit will depend on Luiz asking for an exit.

Luiz recently said that he is fully committed to the West Midlands outfit amid the constant speculation regarding his future.
