Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign RB Leipzig striker Lois Openda in the winter transfer window.

The Red Devils have struggled in the striking department this term and their centre-forwards have netted just once in the Premier League.

They need a huge upgrade in the role for the second half of the campaign if they want to qualify for the Champions League.

The club are already keeping tabs on Stuttgart's Serhou Guirassy, but reports claim that Openda is also on their transfer radar.

The Belgian star has been a revelation for Leipzig since his move from Lens last summer. He has netted 14 goals so far.

United have been scouting him closely in recent weeks and they saw him score twice against Manchester City last month.

Erik ten Hag is believed to have given the green light for a January move, but Leipzig are unlikely to let him go on the cheap.

They bought him for around £38m and are expected to demand at least twice the figure to sanction his sale this winter.
