Arsenal identify top target for January transfer window
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly determined to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney at the beginning of 2024.
The Gunners have stuttered in their Premier League title pursuit in recent weeks and they are currently fourth in the table.
They are still only two points behind leaders Liverpool and reports claim that the club will invest on a marquee striker soon.
Arteta was initially aiming to bolster the defence and purchase a midfielder, but his stance has changed over recent weeks.
The lack of goals in the past few matches have triggered the need for a striker and Toney is the main priority for the manager.
Toney netted 20 times in the top-flight for Brentford last term before he was banned for eight months for breaching betting rules.
He will be available to play again from January 18 and Arsenal are widely expected to step up their pursuit of his services.
Toney is said to prefer to join the Gunners over Chelsea next month.
