Gyokeres: Chelsea bound?

Former Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres could still be headed to Chelsea, despite reports today that the Blues have not opened discussions to sign the striker in January. Gyokeres has a 100 million euro minimum fee release clause, and the Blues are said to be willing to spend around 75 million to secure a move for the forward.

The Swedish forward has been in inspired form since moving to Sporting Lisbon, and so far this campaign he has scored 11 goals in 16 league games for his club. This followed on from a hugely impressive spell at the Sky Blues, where he had two successful seasons.

Chelsea have struggled in front of goal so far this season, not just because of out of form forwards but also injury to key players such as Christopher Nkunku.

The signing of Gyokeres would be a huge boost for the club and its unhappy support, with the club currently sitting 9th in the Premier League.

It is understood that Real Madrid have also been impressed with the form of Gyokeres and are keeping a close eye on the player's transfer situation.
