Arsenal set to open contract talks with key midfielder
Arsenal are set to open contract talks with midfielder Jorginho amid his impressive performances in the current campaign.
The Italy international joined the Gunners from Chelsea last year and the move was met by mixed reactions from the fanbase.
However, Jorginho has proved his worth with some stand-out performances including one against Liverpool earlier this month.
PA Sport claim that the club are now weighing up a new deal for the former Napoli man whose contract expires at the end of June.
Arsenal have the option to extend his stay for 12 months, but they are expected to propose a fresh 1+1 year contract for him.
Jorginho has been linked with a return to Serie A for some point of time, but the Gunners seem determined to keep him in their ranks.
His decision to stay may not change the club's plans for the summer. They are said to be keen on landing a young defensive midfielder.
Thomas Partey could make way for the new arrival.
