Man Utd closely following talented Danish midfielder

Manchester United are closely following the progress of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Morten Hjulmand before a summer move.

The Red Devils are expected to bolster their defensive midfield department in the summer and have their sights on a replacement for Casemiro.

Hjulmand has been identified as one of the top candidates for them and Record claim that they are closely watching his performances.

The Danish star has been a revelation since his move last summer and he has had a passing accuracy of around 87 per cent in the Primeira Liga.

Aside from this, he has registered almost two tackles and five recoveries per outing. He has similar attributes as Casemiro, who could leave.

The 25-year-old is currently protected by a release clause of €80m in his deal, but Sporting are more likely to negotiate when the season ends.

Hjulmand famously has an Arsenal tattoo on his left arm, but it seems unlikely that the Gunners will make an approach for his services.
