Mauricio Pochettino says Chelsea defender could miss Sheffield game

Pochettino on Chilwell

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that Ben Chilwell may not be available for the Premier League clash against Sheffield United.

The Blues returned to winning ways last night with a dramatic result. They were losing 3-2 to Manchester United until the closing minutes.

Diogo Dalot gifted them a penalty which was converted by Cole Palmer before he bagged the winner in the 111th minute via a deflection.

The Blues should be on a high after the surprise victory and they will be aiming to continue the momentum against the Blades on the road.

Ahead of the game, Pochettino has revealed that Ben Chilwell may not be available, having recently had excess fluid removed from his knee.

He said: "We need to see with Chilly. Still he is not training. We will see if he can be involved [on Friday] but then Sunday is the game, so there isn't much time. If he's not ready for Sunday, then we hope for the next game."

Chelsea moved into the top 10 of the Premier League with the win over United. They are currently five points off the top six with a game in hand.

The club have an excellent chance to end the season on a high note. If they can continue winning, they could qualify for the Europa League next term.
