Fabrizio Romano confirms Mikel Arteta wants to sign Spanish star
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has an interest in signing Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Gunners have been following the Spaniard for some period of time, but they have not received the green light from the midfielder over a move.
Zubimendi has publicly said that he is comfortable to continue at his boyhood club, but he could contemplate an exit in the next transfer window.
Speaking in his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that Arteta is a big admirer of his compatriot and believes he is a very talented player.
The journalist added that he could be the perfect midfield signing for the Gunners, though the club have other targets on their transfer radar.
Zubimendi currently has a release clause in the region of €60m in his deal, and Sociedad are likely to hold out for the figure to sell him.
Bayern and Barcelona are also admirers of the 25-year-old, but the Gunners should have an upper hand due to their long-term interest.
