Man Utd step up contact to sign Dutch defender

Jeremie Frimpong news

Frimpong to Man Utd?

Manchester United have stepped up contact to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong at the end of the campaign.

The Dutchman has been a key player for Leverkusen in the right wing-back role and he has registered 13 goals and 11 assists this term.

His exceptional form has caught the eye of United and they have now intensified contact to sign Frimpong from Leverkusen.

The Red Devils have held a long-term interest in the 23-year-old and are now ready to convince the players into a potential transfer.

They have no concern in triggering his €40m release clause, but that option will only be valid before the start of the Euros this summer.

Hence, United don't have much time on their hands and will need to be quick to sort out an agreement at the end of the season.

Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in Frimpong, but it seems unlikely that they will enter the race amid Ben White's fine form.
