Gabriel Magalhaes to sign new Arsenal deal

It is understood that Arsenal have offered a new contract to defender Gabriel Magalhaes, with the Brazilian defender likely to sign a new deal this summer. The defender had begun this season on the bench, but has gone on to be one of the Premier League's best central defenders.

A sterling partnership in defence alongside William Saliba as the duo have the best defensive record in the top flight and have impressed as Arsenal went on to the quarter finals of the Champions League and are positioned well in the Premier League title race.

After preliminary talks were wrapped up with Gabriel, finally a deal was setup for the defender and he will now talk to his representatives regarding putting pen to paper.

Interestingly, Saudi Arabian football clubs are still interested in Gabriel, having almost agreed a transfer last summer for a fee of around £60 million to bring the Brazilian to the Middle East.

Gabriel is currently earning £100,000 a week and has two years remaining on his current contract.
