Diaz has three years left on his current contract, but he has shown no signs of negotiate a new long-term deal.
As a result, the hierarchy are said to be losing patience with him, particularly with the interest from Barcelona.
The Catalan giants recently convinced Xavi Hernandez to continue in the head coach position for another 12 months.
As part of the deal, they will back him with funds to invest and a new winger is one of the utmost priorities.
Apart from Diaz, Barcelona have an eye on Arsenal ace Gabriel Martinelli despite his struggles in the current year.
The Brazilian had a brilliant 2023, but he has failed to replicate the form this term amid short-term injury issues.
