Arsenal confirm contract extension for key midfielder

Arsenal have confirmed that midfielder Jorginho has committed his future to the club for another campaign.
The Italian joined the Gunners from Chelsea in January last year, and he has since been a key player in the centre of the park.
The 32-year-old has excelled with his ball control and distribution and has proved a quality signing for the number six position.
Juventus were said to be interested in landing him on a free transfer, but he has now committed his future for another 12 months.
As part of the deal, there is no extension clause and Jorginho would be free to leave next summer. He could return to Serie A at that point.
Juventus have been long-term admirers of the former Napoli man, but the Gunners have convinced him to stay for another year.
The decision to keep Jorginho could coincide with the departure of Thomas Partey whose contract expires at the end of next season.
Partey has suffered plenty of injury problems during his four seasons at Arsenal and could be sold for a cut-price fee this summer.
