Liverpool eyeing move for Benfica midfielder
Liverpool could make a surprise move to sign Benfica midfielder Orkun Kokcu following the appointment of Arne Slot as their new manager.
The Merseyside giants recently confirmed the arrival of Slot as their new head coach. He will take the position from June after his work permit is approved.
The hierarchy are expected to back the Dutchman with a huge summer budget and reports claim that Kokcu could be one of the prime targets for him.
Kokcu played under Slot at Feyenoord where they won the Eredivisie together in 2022/23. The Turkish star opted to move on to Benfica last summer.
The 23-year-old has impressed for the Portuguese outfit with seven goals and 11 assists, but he has still criticised the manager for playing him out of position.
Kokcu was out of the team for a couple of games as a result and Benfica could be open to sanctioning his departure for around €40-50m this summer.
Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in signing the central midfielder in the past, but he is most likely to prefer a reunion with Slot.
