Martial confirms Man Utd exit

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has confirmed that he is leaving on a free transfer when his contract expires on June 30.

The Frenchman has been one of the longest serving players at the club, making over 300 appearances in all competitions.

Martial had a tough 2023/24 season due to injuries and he did not make an appearance for the club after the turn of the year.

In a statement on Instagram, he has now bid farewell to the fans. He will be leaving the club after a mixed nine-year spell.

He wrote: "Manchester United will always be in my heart. This club has left its mark on my career and offered me an incredible opportunity to play in front of you."

"I’m leaving to take on new challenges, I’ll always be a Red Devil and I’ll continue to follow the club’s results with passion."

The 28-year-old has been linked with a possible move to Serie A for some time. Inter Milan were huge admirers of him in the past.

The Nerazzurri are no longer interested in his services, but the likes of Atalanta and Roma could make contract offers to him.

Martial will have to accept a significant pay-cut to join either of those clubs. He has also been linked with a possible switch to the Saudi Pro League.
