Chelsea set to confirm defender as first summer signing

Chelsea are set to confirm their first signing of the summer in the form of Tosin Adarabioyo, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues have been on the search for a new centre-back following the departure of Thiago Silva to Fluminense on a free transfer.

Adarabioyo has been on their radar in recent days and they have now verbally agreed terms with the 26-year-old over a Bosman deal.

The former Fulham man will undergo a medical with the Blues in the next 24 hours and could be confirmed as a new player this week.

The arrival of Adarabioyo could spell the end of Trevoh Chalobah's career as the Blues look to balance their books before June 30.

The club have opened the door to offloading club graduates to secure pure profit and Chalobah could be sold in the near future.

Chalobah has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs including Manchester United. He is also on the radar of Bayern.
