Arsenal hope to complete signing of 22yo star next week

Arsenal are hopeful of completing the signing of Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna in the next week, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners have already agreed terms over a five-year deal with the Italian and they are currently negotiating the transfer package for him.

The clubs have already agreed on €50m as the final figure for the transfer, but Arsenal are aiming to lower the initial price for the deal.

Mikel Arteta's side aim to finalise the payment terms by next week such that Calafiori can undergo his medical after his short vacation.

The 22-year-old has the ability to play in central defence or at left-back. He is most likely to operate from the latter of those roles at Arsenal.

His arrival could also pave the way for the departure of Jakub Kiwior, who is currently attracting plenty of interest from the Italian top tier.

Juventus, Napoli and AC Milan are among admirers of the Pole. Arsenal are open to loaning him out with a mandatory clause to purchase.
